Springfield Women's Basketball Eyes State Championship
Springfield High School's women's basketball team is making a strong push for the state championship after a thrilling victory last Friday. In front of a home crowd, SHS took down Crescent Valley in a crucial state playoff game, securing their place in the next round.
With momentum on their side, the team now sets its sights on Linfield University, where they will face South Albany on Wednesday night at 6:30 PM. This game will be a pivotal test for Springfield as they continue their impressive postseason run.
Springfield has been dominant all season, and their success is reflected in the accolades received by both players and coaching staff. Head coach Joe Williamson has been recognized as Coach of the Year, a testament to his leadership and the team’s dedication. Defensive powerhouse Darissa Romero Ah Sam has earned the title of Defensive Player of the Year while also securing All-Team Conference honors. Additionally, standout players Sailor Hall and Ikunaday Filipe have been acknowledged for their outstanding performances, with Hall being named First Team All-Conference and Filipe earning a spot on the Second Team All-Conference list. Mylah Wilson and Lia Jones have also been recognized for their contributions, both earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors.
