ACT has recognized Springfield High School students for their outstanding achievement on the PreACT 8/9 assessment through the national PreACT Rising Stars program.

This year, 77 Springfield High School students earned recognition through the Rising Stars program, a significant increase from 45 students recognized last year. The growth reflects both increasing student achievement and the continued commitment of Springfield High School staff and families to supporting early college and career readiness.

The PreACT Rising Stars program honors students who score among the top-performing students in the nation on the PreACT 8/9 assessment. The assessment provides students, families, and educators with an early indicator of college and career readiness while helping schools identify areas of academic strength and opportunities for growth.

“Early insights into college and career readiness are essential for helping students stay on track and feel supported in their goals,” said Catherine Hofmann. “The PreACT 8/9 and PreACT Rising Stars program gives educators and families a meaningful way to understand students’ strengths, celebrate their achievements, and guide them toward informed decisions about their futures.”

Springfield High School Principal Jose da Silva praised the students for their accomplishments and emphasized the value of early academic preparation.

“We are incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding performance on the PreACT assessment and for being recognized through the Rising Stars program,” said da Silva. “Programs like PreACT help students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and begin thinking about the many opportunities available to them after high school. This recognition reflects the hard work of our students, families, and educators.”

The PreACT Rising Stars program recognizes students at three levels:

  • Distinguished Scholars Award – Students scoring in the top 3% nationally
  • Rising Scholars Award – Students scoring in the top 4–10% nationally
  • Early Scholars Award – Students scoring in the top 11–50% nationally

At Springfield High School, students earning these recognitions will be notified through the school and will receive certificates and recognition items associated with their award level.

The PreACT 8/9 assessment and Rising Stars program were designed to help students better understand their academic progress and future opportunities early in their educational journey. The assessment provides valuable information that can help students prepare for future coursework, college entrance exams, and career pathways.
