Springfield High Journalists Shine at National Convention!

Springfield High Journalists Shine at National Convention!
Betsy Johnson

Congratulations to our amazing Journalism and Yearbook students!

This past weekend, 20 Springfield High students took off — by bus, plane, train, and even monorail — to attend the JEA/NSPA National Journalism Convention for the first time in school history! Both Intro to Journalism and Yearbook students participated in professional sessions, received critiques, connected with industry pros, and competed against top student journalists from across the country.

In addition to attending workshops, the group explored Seattle landmarks, visiting Pike Place Market and taking in breathtaking views from the top of the Space Needle.

Throughout the trip, students built real-world skills like autonomy, collaboration, communication, problem-solving, patience, and selflessness — all while representing Springfield High with pride and professionalism.

We are incredibly proud of these students who chose to push themselves and elevate their work in journalism! This was Springfield’s first time attending this national convention, and we can't wait to take even more students to future national and state competitions.
