Electronic Devices Ban - Springfield High School

This summer, Governor Tina Kotek issued an Executive Order requiring all Oregon K12 public school districts to adopt policies banning student use of personal electronic devices during the school day. The order is designed to improve instructional time, academic achievement, school climate, and healthy student interactions.

Beginning September 2025, all Springfield Public Schools (SPS) students, including those at Springfield High School, must have their personal electronic devices turned off and put away from bell to bell, including during passing periods and lunch.

Devices Covered by the Ban
Personal devices prohibited under the Executive Order include, but are not limited to:

• Cell phones
• Smart watches
• Headphones/earbuds
• Smart glasses
• Tablets
• Any device that connects to the internet

Students with an IEP or 504 plan: Parents/guardians should contact Springfield High School for more information about allowable accommodations under this policy.

Parents/guardians who need to contact their student during the school day may do so by calling the Springfield High School Attendance Office at 541-744-4794 and requesting that an important message be delivered to the student’s classroom.

We encourage you to have conversations with your student/s about how they will store their electronic devices, including cell phones, during the school day.
