Family Resource Center
The Student and Family Resource Center is a one-stop shop for resources, ranging from crisis support and mental health referrals to food and clothing. The goal of the Center is to create a comfortable space where ALL students can feel safe, supported, and enabled to focus on academics. The Resource Center is comprised of several different components:
THE FOCUS ROOM
The Focus Room is a quiet place for students to go if they are feeling anxious, upset, or need a mental break. It is located in room 362. Students can access the Focus Room for a maximum of 15 minutes.
STUDENT RESOURCES
Students can access free clothing, shoes, toiletry and hygiene products, and school supplies from Room 362. Snacks are also available here during passing periods. Everything is available to ALL students, regardless of income. If you need something but don’t see it, just ask!
MILLER OUTFITTERS
Miller Outfitters, a student-run free thrift clothing boutique, is located in the cafeteria and is open to all SHS students. The boutique is dependent on donations, which we accept all year long! Family and community members may drop off donations at the main office, and students are encouraged to use the blue donation bin in the clothing boutique. Please keep in mind the following guidelines:
- Donations should be clean and in good condition
- We accept shoes, adult-sized clothing, and accessories (scarves, hats, gloves, etc.)
- No household items
- Clothing from the boutique is for currently enrolled SHS students only
FOOD RESOURCES
We offer three different types of food resources for currently enrolled SHS students and their families.
Weekend Pantry Packs. Pantry packs are drawstring backpacks full of food for students to take home over the weekend. Students can order online to choose specific foods or grab a standard food bag (no pre-order required). All bags are available for pickup after school on Fridays from the attendance office. Students can order using a QR code or through the link bit.ly/SHSPantry.
Family Food Boxes. Currently-enrolled SHS students and their families can sign up to receive a family-sized food box. Families can choose their foods through an online form each week, and then pick up the box on Tuesdays or Thursdays from the main office between 2-3:30. An initial registration is required for all new and returning families. Families can register using a QR code or through the link bit.ly/SHSfoodboxregistration1.
Grab and Go Food Boxes. Currently-enrolled SHS students and their families are eligible to grab a pre-made food box from the main office. All we need is your family's name and the number of people in your household; no pre-order or registration is required.
