Health Science Professions
The Health Sciences earning pathway orients students to careers that promote health, wellness and diagnoses as well as treatment of injuries and diseases. Some of the careers involve working directly with people while others involve research or the collection and formatting of data and information. Work locations may be varied and may be in hospitals, medical or dental offices, laboratories, cruise ships, medevac units, sports areas, space centers, or within the community.
Are you interested in helping people? Health Sciences Program is dedicated to developing skilled, adept, and passionate health professionals that will be leaders in the healthcare industry. Our HOSA Chapter provides students real-world opportunities to learn health care skills through community service events, such as blood drives, school vision screenings, and CPR workshops.
Learning Outcomes
- Research and design solutions to improve client performance in physical and health education.
- Practice proper patient care.
- Understand how to interact with patients and families.
- Communicate health information accurately and professionally.
- Adhere to safety, privacy, legal, and ethical practices essential in a healthcare workplace.
Possibilities After Graduation
Classes in the pathway include: Intro to Health Occupations, Medical Terminology, Intro to Anatomy & Physiology, Anatomy and & Physiology 1 & 2, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Course, and a Certified Medical Assistant Course.
Career possibilities include: Nurse, Physician, Dental Hygienist, Dentist, Veterinarian, Anesthesiologist, Physical Therapist, Athletic trainer, Paramedic, Radiologist, Pharmacist.
Annual Salary Range: $35,000 - $400,000
