After School Miller Program (AMP)

AfterSchool Miller Program

Springfield High School is a 21st Century Learning Center!

This means that Springfield High School was selected to receive a grant to operate this after school program for the purpose of engaging students in science technology, mathematics, engineering, and the arts.  All of our programs, while fun and exciting, also engage students’ minds and give then opportunities to explore new fields.

ALL OF OUR PROGRAMS ARE FREE OF CHARGE

The After School Miller Program runs Monday-Thursday 3:05-6:00pm

Certified instructors, educational assistants, contractors, and/or volunteers lead each class.

Students participating in our After School Program are provided the environment, equipment, tools & training to learn, gain hands on experience & explore various industries.

USDA Meal Program Included

Immediately after school, in the Commons, all students who are a part of the the program are provided a free meal, made up of healthy, balanced food.

The BEST of SHS Pep Rally!

The BEST of Springfield High School will be on display when SHS presents the twelfth annual community Homecoming Pep Rally at Silke Field, WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 19.  Specialty foods,  performances by the SHS cheerleaders and the award-winning fine arts department, followed by an out of this world Fireworks show, highlight this old-fashioned pep rally. Everyone is invited! Beginning at 5:00 PM in the Silke Parking Lot

Starting at 5:00 PM the public is welcome to choose from among more than a dozen food booths where they can enjoy pizza, hamburgers, tamales, COSMO Corn, hand dipped ice cream, cotton candy, Yaki Soba noodles, chili dogs, nachos, baked goods, and much more.  Dutch Bros will be here as well.

At 7:00 PM the public is invited into the stadium for performances, competitions, the introduction of the home coming nominees, featured performers include the Marching Band: the 120 voice Concert Chorale;  the varsity cheerleaders; a student theater video on a 15 x 20 foot screen;  Senior fall athletes will be honored.

Closing the evening this year will be an extraordinary firework show!

Spirit/Homecoming Week!

It’s Spirit Week at SHS and the halls were filled with flannel-wearing students and teachers! Tomorrow is Pajama Day so take advantage of the one opportunity in the year to wear your PJs to school!

Wednesday will be “Stars and Stripes”

Wednesday is also the “Best of SHS Pep Rally”! Begins at 5:30 in the Silke parking lot.

Thursday is “Jersey Day”

Friday is “Spirit Day” – show your Miller Pride!

Friday night is our Homecoming Football Game against Marist at 7:00.

Saturday evening begins with the SHS Alumni Hall of Fame Induction in the Commons at 5:30.

Homecoming Dance is Saturday at 8:00. The theme is “Starlit Paradise”. Tickets ($8/single, and $12/couple) are on sale every day at lunch in the courtyard.

Every 15 Minutes

Hold on to your hats – Every 15 Minutes is coming to SHS next Tuesday and Wednesday (October 11 & 12)! If you haven’t heard about it, it’s a very powerful program staged by local authorities that is meant to educate teens about the potential consequences around drinking and driving. Every class, on time, every day

New Attendance/Tardy Policy begins on Monday, Oct 3rd. Listen for details in class today and tomorrow. Students will need a tardy slip to enter class after the bell rings and unexcused tardies will result in lunch detention. Thank you for helping your student make education a priority!
