Booster Club

This Wednesday at  6 PM is our last Booster meeting of this school year.

We will be preparing for next school year, by voting in new board members and closing out this school year. We supported our students with thousands of dollars to many different clubs, sports and other activities.

We need parent support to make this coming school year be successful.

All Springfield High School students depend on Booster support. We hope to continue helping the students/school for many years.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday evening and for your support for the 2016-2017 school year.

Graduation Update

Due to the potential for thunderstorms and lightning this evening, the decision has been made to move our graduation ceremonies indoors. This, unfortunately, limits our seating capabilities and we will only be able to accept the seven white tickets that were issued to students. Blue tickets will not be accepted. In spite of the weather, we’re looking forward to a wonderful time of celebration with the class of 2016!

Tickets are still available for the all-night graduation party! Pick yours up at the front office!

Graduation is Friday!

Graduation events are in full swing this week leading up to the actual ceremony on Friday evening. Please check the “Graduation Information” under Student Links for specific information about each event. We will make the decision as to whether our ceremony will be inside or outside as soon as possible.

Sad news

Dear SHS families,

I have some sad news to share with you today.  As you may be aware, over the weekend we learned that one of our 9th grade students, Christian Ripley, died from drowning in the Willamette River.  Christian was a friendly and athletic student who played on the SHS football team.  He was outgoing and he loved the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our hearts go out to Christian’s family and friends.

Students were made aware of this news this morning during their 1st period class. Today, we had extra counselors and staff available in the library for anyone who felt they would like more support.  These supports will remain in place throughout the week and as long as students need.

We do not yet know anything about a memorial service, but when we find out that information, we will be sure to share it with everyone.

Below are the links to resources that you may find helpful in helping your student grieve this loss as even if your student did not directly know Christian, we recognize this type of unexpected loss can trigger grief and sadness for all of us.

Today and always, let’s remember that life is precious.  Extend kindness and understanding to others.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind regards

José da Silva

Principal Springfield High School

Saludo cordial,

José da Silva, Director de la Escuela
